Our commitment to operating a sustainable business which cares for the wider world.
Sustainability is a fundamental part of our responsibility as citizens of the world. It is our charge to be responsible custodians and work together to develop a better world free of harm and social deprivation for generations to come.
We believe that every person has the power to make a difference. 5% of every sale will be donated to Cancer Research UK via Work for Goods. This means together we can work towards finding cure and prevention.
Our sustainability commitments include five core elements:
- Next-gen experience
- Caring for our community
- Protecting our planet
- Creating local partnerships
- Addressing inclusion and supporting empowerment
Supporting The Next Generation
We offer internships and work opportunities for those who are looking to build their entrepreneurial skills and always strive to provide fair, open, and inclusive opportunities. Our goal is to help young talent build their skills and test new working models to facilitate their entry into the corporate market.
We also actively support small businesses that have been set up by the next generation. We believe in the power of young people to create positive change and have a burning passion to help them turn their ideas into reality. As mentors, we’re here to offer the guidance, advice, and support they need to build confidence and achieve their business objectives.
Uplifting Local Communities
We take pride in our industry and ensure all our partners uphold the same high standards that we set for ourselves. So, before partnering with any supplier or manufacturer, we visit their sites to confirm they have a fair, inclusive, and open working environment, which is equitable and ethical. This forms part of our robust onboarding model to guarantee that all our partners, suppliers, and teams understand and align with our values.
We are also committed to supporting small family-owned companies and micro-businesses where possible. By investing in local economies, we can help create jobs and reduce poverty.
Protecting Our Planet
The planet is by far our most precious asset, and we must do everything we can to protect it. Our business model is founded on sustainability principles and we’re constantly looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact.
Here are just some of the things we are doing:
- We are not fast fashion. Our pieces are made from high-quality durable materials.
- We recycle and reuse materials wherever possible.
- We keep plastic use to a bare minimum and never include single-use plastic in our packaging.
- We encourage single shipment on consignment orders to reduce our carbon footprint.
- We incentivise buyers to opt for a reusable eco-pouch.
Creating Local Partnerships That Drive Economic Value
Where possible, we work to create local partnerships that drive economic value and give back to the community through employment, education, and social development. As part of our work, we have directly contributed to the growth of two local start-ups, created direct employment, and provided financial aid to support the academic aspirations of one of our creative talents.
Addressing Inclusion & Supporting Empowerment
We donate a percentage of our sales revenue to communities that support empowerment around the world. When you buy from Soeurs Jewellery, you’re not only contributing to the realisation of a global sisterhood — you’re also assisting in several community projects that support empowerment and inclusion. Here are some of our endeavours:
- We work directly with micro-businesses and start-ups that are female owned.
- We donate a proportion of our sale proceeds to charities that support underprivileged communities.
We appreciate that our success is built on the hard work and dedication of many who came before us, so we’re committed to using our platform to support social and economic development. We’re proud to be a part of global sisterhood and we’ll continue working hard to make a difference in the lives of others.
